About the Fund

MCCF Board of Directors

The MCCF is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors representing the members of the Fund.

The following is a list of our current Board members:

Barb Hayden, Chair
Planning Director
St. Louis County
Duluth, MN

Barbara Hayden has served as the planning director for St. Louis County in Duluth, MN since 1999. In addition to land-use planning and evaluation research, Barbara is responsible for the administration in over $4.5 million in housing, community development and economic development programs.

Prior to coming to St. Louis County, Barbara was the Community Development Manager for Hennepin County. She was responsible for housing and community development programs in suburban Hennepin County as well as HRA activities.

Barbara has an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies from St. Cloud State University and a Masters in Public Administration from Hamline University. She also serves on the board of the National Association of Counties Community and Economic Development Association.

Greg Hohlen, Vice Chair

Bremer Bank
St. Cloud, MN

Greg Hohlen is Vice President of Commercial Lending at Bremer Bank in St. Cloud, where he specializes in SBA guaranteed loans.

Previously, he was an Assistant Vice President/Commercial Loan Officer at First National Bank of Elk River. Prior to joining the banking industry, Greg served as an economic developer in Northern Mille Lacs County for eleven years. In that capacity, he managed several revolving loan funds, provided technical assistance to small businesses, and provided economic development services to several communities in Mille Lacs County.

Greg is a graduate of Hamline University and has a Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs.

Brian Fritsinger, Treasurer

City of Cloquet
Cloquet, MN

Brian Fritsinger is the City Administrator for the City of Cloquet. He has held previous City Administrator and Economic Development positions with the Cities of Arden Hills, Perham, New York Mills, Hopkins, and Anoka.

After graduating from St. Cloud State University in 1987, Brian obtained his certification as a Certified Economic Development Professional from the National Development Council. Brian is active in a variety of regional organizations which promote business development and oversees the City of Cloquet's economic development activities.

Steve Dusek

Slayton, MN

Steve Dusek has served as Chief Executive Officer of Prairieland Economic Development Corporation, located in Slayton, Minnesota, since 1996. He currently manages a loan portfolio of $26.5 million and a staff of six. Prairieland's loan portfolio includes $21.5 million in SBA 504 loans and $5+ million in USDA Rural Development IRP loans.

After graduating from the University of North Dakota in 1987, Steve began his career at a planning agency in Minot, North Dakota. In 1989, he moved to southwest Minnesota and accepted a position with the Southwest Regional Development Commission (SRDC) as the Economic Development / Deputy Director.

Steve is a Certified Economic Development Professional by the National Development Council. As a member of the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO), he is actively involved in several NADCO committees that support legislative advocacy and networking opportunities for small business development throughout the country.

John Damjanovich

Woodland Bank

John Damjanovich is Senior Vice President of Lending for Woodland Bank, headquartered in Remer. He oversees all lending functions of the bank and specializes in the bank's larger commercial loans.

Prior to joining Woodland Bank, he spent 12 years in economic development, with a focus on economic development lending and small business development through the Itasca Development Corporation and the Grand Rapids Small Business Development Center.

John is a graduate of Bemidji State University, where he received a degree in Business Administration / Finance.

Duane Johnson

Duane Johnson has been serving as Planning Director for Dodge County since 1993. His duties include planning and zoning administration and economic development. Duane also spent 12 years in the private sector as a small business owner.

He is a member of EDAM, MAPCED and board member of the Southeast Minnesota Development Corporation. Duane has held various appointed and elected positions such as City Council member, Planning commission member, City EDA member, and on trail development groups.

He holds a degree in Urban Studies with Planning emphasis from Mankato State University and has 25 years of experience as a professional City and County Planner.
